The Project Bridge S.T.A.R.S. program aims to reduce the summertime learning loss for rising first, second, and third graders of Henry County, Tennessee by fostering literacy and intentional character development. We pair each young reader with a caring mentor to strengthen reading skills and build confidence. We provide engaging, faith-based programming and activities in small groups to strengthen children’s social skills and emotional development. Focusing on the whole child, we utilize music, art, physical activities, gardening, and more. During a four-week summer program, we develop S.T.A.R.S. (Students Thriving & Achieving Reading Success.)
Project Bridge is a Christian-based ministry that supports rising first, second, and third-graders of Henry County by bridging the summertime academic gap. We focus on the WHOLE child, addressing social skill development, emotional growth, and literacy. We offer one-on-one reading assistance for struggling readers and programming to develop their social skills and positive attitudes toward reading.

"Project Bridge had such a profound and lasting effect on Ethan, especially all the relationships he was able to form... And he's thriving academically. He tests above average in everything. I believe his most recent results had him reading just shy of a fourth-grade level, and his math skills are at a second-grade level. Back in the fall when we had the Parent/Teacher conference, his teacher told me that she couldn't leave the smart board on anymore when she read her emails because Ethan was able to read them aloud. ( She couldn't believe it lol. He's like a sponge. Just absorbs everything and retains it. They started having weekly spelling tests not too long ago and he aces every single one. So far he's had a great year both academically and socially. I couldn't be more proud of him."
The 4 week summer program focuses on one-on-one reading assistance to minimize the summertime learning loss for struggling first, second and third grade students and nurtures their social/emotional growth and character/faith development.
